If you are planning to visit the UAE, having a visa is a must. Individuals from the countries listed below can apply for a visa upon arriving in Abu Dhabi. Travellers from other countries may apply online. Whether you are planning to obtain a tourist or transit visa, we can assist you throughout the process.
To obtain a UAE visa, you must fulfil the following criteria.
The type of visa may vary depending on the length of your stay in the UAE. Following are the Visa types to choose from. All rates mentioned are in UAE Dirhams (AED) and are non-refundable. The estimated visa processing time would be three to five days, subject to immigration approval.
For passengers travelling (transit) through UAE’s airports. Transit visas are issued for either 48 hours or 96 hours. A Transit visa for 48 hours is issued free of charge, while a transit visa for 96 hours can be issued at the cost of AED 50. These visas are neither extendable nor renewable and issued only for passengers crossing the UAE’s airports while reaching the third destination.
If you are a tourist planning to visit UAE, you must apply for a tourist visa before arriving in the country. This type of visa may be extended twice for 30 days, and you will have to pay AED 960 per extension.
For those planning to visit UAE more than once within 60 days. Travellers are allowed to make multiple visits for 60 days from the first date of entry into the UAE. However, your stay cannot be exceeded more than 30 days from the date of entry to the UAE, and the visa must be extended twice for 30 days of stay each time.
For travellers planning to stay in the UAE for more than 30 days. This single-entry visa entitles you to stay in the UAE for up to 60 days or less. The visa is valid for 60 days from the date of issue and can be extended twice for 30 days. If the traveller departs the country within 60 days, the visa expires.
Travellers can enter the emirates multiple times within 60 days through this special visa. The visa validity will be 60 days from the date of issue and can be extended twice for 30 days.
You may submit the necessary documents and information and apply through one of the methods listed below:

Travellers who are planning to stay in the UAE for more than 3 months can obtain a visa for 6 months under two categories:
Individuals applying for this visa should fall under a special category such as professionals, students, investors and entrepreneurs. This 6-month multiple entry visa allows visitors to stay longer, understand its environment and begin their paperwork for an extended stay.
If you do not fall under the above categories but are willing to stay in the UAE for 6 months, contact our local tourist agency to obtain a no-exit visa extension. This allows you to stay in the UAE for a total of 6 months.
The grace period is the number of days a visitor could stay in the UAE after visa expiry. Within this stipulated period, the visa holder could either renew the visa to amend the current visa status and extend their stay or leave the country. Visitors holding 30 days on arrival visas and prepaid visas are entitled to obtain a 10-day grace period. However, no grace period will be provided for visitors with 90 days on arrival visa as it comes with a multiple entry visa that is valid for 6 months and allows you a total stay of 90 days in the UAE.
The 10 days grace period is free for 30 days on arrival visa and prepaid visa holders. If you are staying in the UAE beyond that period, then you will have to pay an overstay fine as below:
All types of visit and tourist visas can be extended for 30 days twice, upon applying and approved by the relevant authorities.
This can be performed without exiting the country and before the expiration of your current visa. You will be charged a fee of AED 600 for each time of renewal.
If you are overstaying and planning to renew your visa, you will have to pay an extra AED 100 for each day you have overstayed. The overstay is calculated from the last day of your grace period.
However, the new rule of visa extension does not apply to the following travellers:
Passport holders from specific countries can obtain a visa on arrival without any pre-arranged visa requirements. It can be obtained at the airport within a few minutes.
Citizens or passport holders from the following countries or territories are eligible to obtain a 30‑day visit visa free of charge.
Passport holders and nationals of the below countries or territories can obtain a multiple entry 90‑day visit visa on arrival. Upon arrival at the UAE’s airport, proceed to the immigration counter, where your passport will be stamped with a multiple entry 90‑day visit visa. It will be valid for 6 months from the date of issue with 90 days of permitted duration of stay.
Upon submitting all the necessary documents and if the criteria are met, your visa will be approved within 3 to 5 working days. However, this may take longer sometimes due to other reasons.
